Parsons Quilters Guild
Quilt Show and More!
On Saturday, May 28th from 9am to 5pm in the Arvon Phillips Recreation Center gymnasium, located at Heacock and Broadway, the Parsons Quilters Guild has once again organized a fabulous quilt show for your enjoyment.
Quilts appeal on many levels, so If you’re interested in color, patterns, fabric, history, puzzles, sewing, and even math - be sure to drop by! You’ll be drawn in at the first look.
The theme this year is “Riding the Rails”.
In addition to handmade quilts on display, guild members will be demonstrating quilting techniques and antique items will be on display. There will also be a boutique with handmade items and silent auctions.
Admission is free but donations are appreciated!
(Pies and the History Zone are located in the same building - so you have many reasons to find your way to the Arvon Phillips Rec Center!)
Every other year, Guild members create a train-themed quilt to raffle as a fundraiser. They’ve outdone themselves this year with their “Riding the Rails” quilt, based on the simple signs hobos used to communicate about where food, shelter, doctors, and other help could be found and places to stay away from.
The hobo quilt will be on display in the park (weather permitting) and the drawing will take place at 4pm. If you would like an opportunity to win the quilt, you may purchase tickets from any guild member, mail money to PO Box 1136, Parsons, KS 67357, or purchase during Katy Days. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.
